the selfish attitude
@ 2005-04-26 - 09:57:33Younger generations are like a surging wave of a turbulent river, which, if properly controlled and channelized can render the vast tracts of land green; but if left uncontrolled can work havoc and devastation. They have to know their potentiality of gainful service to the nation –but as today, they do not seem to know it or they do not want to know it. For most students life is like a 100-meter sprint. Enjoyment is the buzzword for them. Success, name and fame have become the guiding principle of their life and in order to achieve it they are ready to cross any limit. The MMS case of Delhi, the design of pornographic site, hatred, envy, intolerance, suicide, alcoholism, drug abuse has become synonymous with today’s youth which makes one shiver with fear at the thought of tomorrows world. Morality, nobility, ethics, selflessness, compassion, humility, and love- the ornaments that distinguish a human being from an animal are no longer considered of any value. In fact there presence is often seen to be a sign of weakness and their absence a sign of strength. That is the sorry state of affairs. Their energies get wasted in wrongful pursuits; in organizing strikes and ‘Bands’, in demolishing religious structures and dividing the people on the basis of caste and creed.
